Opener problems we fix every day

  • Door closes, then reverses. Usually the safety sensors at the bottom of the tracks are out of line, dirty, or blinded by the afternoon sun.
  • Remote or keypad not working. Dead batteries, a lock button turned on, or a remote that needs to be re-programmed.
  • Motor hums but the door doesn’t move. Often a stripped gear, a disconnected trolley, or a broken spring that the opener can’t lift.
  • Opener dead after a storm. Florida lightning and power surges can fry the logic board. We test it and replace only what failed.
  • Loud, slow or jerky operation. Worn chain or belt, loose rail, or a door that is out of balance.
  • Smart app not connecting. We set up myQ and other Wi-Fi openers so you can open and close from your phone.

Brands we repair

LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Craftsman, Linear, Marantec, Skylink and most other residential and light-commercial openers.

Repair or replace?

If your opener is more than 12 to 15 years old, has no battery backup, or would need a major part, a new opener can cost about the same as the repair. We’ll give you both prices so you can decide — no pressure.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why does my garage door go down and then back up?

In most cases the safety sensors near the floor are misaligned, dirty, or hit by direct sunlight. It can also be the close-force setting or something on the track. Wipe the sensor lenses and check that both lights are steady; if it still reverses, call us.

My remote stopped working. What should I check first?

Replace the remote battery and make sure the lock or vacation button on the wall control isn’t turned on. If it still doesn’t work, the remote may need to be re-programmed or the receiver may have failed.

Is it worth repairing an old garage door opener?

Simple fixes like sensors, gears and remotes are usually worth it. If the circuit board or motor has failed on an older unit, replacing the opener is often the better value. We’ll show you both options and prices.
